Getting to Know: Liven it Up Events
Anthony Navarro, Founder and Senior Planner of Liven it Up Events, shares his love of the job—and why, when it comes to weddings, what's trending isn't always what's in style.
After 10 years of business, Fragrant Designs has built some incredible relationships with other professionals in the event planning and wedding industries. One of our long lasting relationships is with Anthony Navarro, founder and senior planner at Liven it Up Events. He has a great eye for detail and a passion for the business—two of the many reasons why we love working with him.
Because we want everyone to get to know our spectacular friends in the industry, we asked Anthony to share a little bit about what makes Liven It Up Events unique—and why making his clients happy is his favorite part of the job.
"I always tell people the best way to find inspiration is by looking at a variety of different options in terms of venues, flower centerpiece styles from magazines or on the internet, and then once you get a better sense of what you like or dislike, you will find your inspiration to design," says Anthony Navarro, founder and senior planner at Liven it Up Events.
Tell us about what makes Liven it Up Events unique: We are a larger planning company with a collection of planners that work well in all settings from unique venues to traditional hotels and country clubs. We have two tiers of planners in our organization that specialize in either Partial to Full Service Planning all the way through to a Day of Coordination team.
What differentiates your company from some other people in the industry? Almost everyone on the planning team at Liven It Up Events has a food and beverage background, meaning at one point, each one of us have worked in hotels, restaurants, clubs, for a caterer, and so forth. I like to think we have a healthy balance of knowing how the “back of the house” logistics work along with being able to work with couples to properly plan the entire day from start to finish.
Tell us about the services you offer. We offer three levels of service, the most comprehensive is Full Service Planning where we work with our clients to plan a wedding or event from start to finish which includes, setting a budget, finding a venue, securing all of their vendors and then pulling all of the details together and making the event come to life. We also have a Partial Planning Package that works for some clients where we can help with certain elements of the planning process and they take care of the rest. We also offer at the most basic level, Day of Coordination where the client plans the wedding and we swoop in a couple of months before the wedding to tie up loose ends and make the wedding day come to life.
Describe a day in the life! Every day is so different. Some days, I am at my desk from 8am – 6pm, other days, there are floral sample appointments or tastings, or time line meetings, or site visits, or some combination of all of these things in one day. It really is different from day to day which is part of the excitement.
What is your absolute favorite part of your job? Making people happy. That’s why I do this work.
What can your clients expect from working with you? I always aim to create a memorable event that they will remember for a life time.
Where do you find inspiration? Are there any trends you are loving right now? I am so not a trend person. I have always felt that working on a trend does not always get you (as the client) what you really want. For instance, I remember one time I had a client who thought she really loved the idea of being in an industrial loft space for the wedding – which is what is on trend right now. After viewing the lofts, they realized, that was not the type of wedding they wanted. They wanted something more traditional.
